Thank you Bill!
Dear Bill,
I had the pleasure of meeting you at an SDSI Board Meeting a few years ago, when I first started working for Sports San Diego. I still remember you saying, “I wish everything in my life was as easy as SDSI.”
The first thing I told you was THANK YOU for everything you did to get the South Mission Beach volleyball courts permitted. I play on them almost every week, and if it weren’t for you, THOUSANDS of beach volleyball players wouldn’t have a place to play.
You’d get a kick out of this: people show up at 5 a.m. just to reserve a court, and some of them play ALL DAY. The courts are used every single day, and the community, along with a few dedicated individuals, keeps them in great shape. It’s exactly what you intended: people outdoors, enjoying an active life together.
Your efforts to do good for others will never be forgotten. I hope they’re playing “Fire on the Mountain” and “Black Muddy River” on repeat for you upstairs.
In awe and gratitude,
Kirstin Olsen
